i am not one of those that celebrates valentine's day, or makes a big deal of it. but i do like to do something small and fun, and usually heart themed. like heart shaped pancakes for breakfast, or heart shaped ravioli for dinner. one year i made heart shaped meatloaf patties (obviously back when we were meat eaters). this year, i stumbled on a food blog and found this, and i knew this was what i would make this year!
well...this girl is really awesome, cuz i consider myself a pretty good baker, and mine just do not compare!!! not even a little bit!! i was too lazy to draw the hearts to use as a template, and i used all natural food dye (none of that red no. 3 crap...i don't need a side of cancer with my cookies, thanks). they tasted good, tho too sweet (not used to all that sugar), so i chucked the rest of the cream cheese filling and just ate the cookie part. :) so here's my "lovely" rendition!

and it's a miracle, i actually finished the february lady sweater...and in february!! i love it, it turned out even better than expected (altho i could've made it a little bit longer). it's perfect for my growing belly, and i can't wait to wear it!! i used knit picks simply cotton (organic) worsted in toffee and really liked working with this yarn. it's a nice winter weight sweater, and it definitely keeps me warm, without being overly bulky. the gull lace pattern looks intricate but it's actually super simple.
