this is how my saturday was supposed to go:
3:00am - wake up and head out to airport
6:00am - leave denver enroute to san francisco
7:35am - arrive at SFO and kill 2.5 hours to make connecting flight to san luis obispo
11:15am - arrive in SLO and meet up with friends to have lunch at splash cafe (world famous clam chowder in a bread bowl!!)
4:00pm - go to S & C's wedding at avila beach golf resort
instead, this is how my saturday actually went down:
3:00am - woke up and headed to airport
6:00am - left denver enroute to san francisco
7:35am - arrived in SFO and killed some time waiting for my connecting flight to san luis obispo
9:00am - united announcement that gate has changed
9:15am - 2nd united announcement that flight is delayed and gate has changed again
11:00am - found out my plane has left...at another gate. and i am still in san francisco.
11:16am - walk back to original gate to find out what the hell is going on
11:17am - me: "why did my plane just leave without me?" united guy: "uh, did you check in at the gate?" me: "no, i have my boarding pass already, and you told me to go to that other gate." united guy: "did they make an announcement?" me: "no, that's why i'm still standing here and not on my plane." united guy: "hmmm...." united girl: "they've been changing gates all day." me (thinking to myself): "okay...and that helps me how?" 3 united agents frantically searching for other ways to get me to SLO...find new route and print out new boarding passes. yes, passes. find out i'll be landing in SLO at 4:30pm...30 minutes after the wedding starts. lovely.
12:30pm - on flight to LAX. yes, i'm now flying to los angeles!!!!!
1:45pm - waiting for connecting flight to SLO
1:50pm - look at departures...flight is delayed due to weather. what weather?!?! flight now leaving at 4:30. (remember, wedding starts at 4:00!!)
5:30pm - finally make it into SLO airport and make my way to the avis counter to pick up my rental car. avis counter closes at 5:00pm.
5:31pm - thankfully i met nice, young gentleman (cal poly student) at SFO who was on my same ordeal with me and was able to give me ride to the wedding.
6:00pm - finally made it to S & C's wedding reception, just in time to see them make their grand entrance as mr. & mrs. sat down with friends and told them my horrible ordeal...everyone sympathetic but happy i made it. drank some champagne. enjoyed the rest of the night laughing, talking, catching up, meeting new babies, dancing away.
12:15am - in bed, exhausted.
and here is my sunday:
7:30am - woke up, showered, got ready to go
9:45am - everyone drove over to coffee bean (for my sake...all i wanted was my large english breakfast tea latte...i deserved it after all i went thru!!!). drank my delicious beverage...pure bliss.
10:15am - headed out to SLO airport (huge thanks to A who gave me a ride, since i had no rental car)
11:30am - flew from SLO to SFO
12:45pm - picked up by S, M & J to have lunch during my 2.5 hour lay over (thanks again girls!!! it was sooooo great hanging out, just like old times!).
1:00pm - millbrae pancake house...yum! ate eggs benedict...YUM.
2:15pm - headed back to SFO to make my last flight of the weekend back home to denver
3:30pm - finally on my way home.
7:45pm - arrive at denver, picked up by W, on our way to dinner at hickory house for some bbq ribs!
9:15pm - home sweet home...
so my weekend didn't go quite as planned...and i was furious at first when i found out what happened to my flight. especially since this was a short trip to begin with. but you know, there was no sense in getting angry. the united ppl at SFO sucked a$$ tho, and i will definitely be writing a *nice* little letter to united, detailing my *wonderful* ordeal on saturday. but i had a great time at the wedding and hanging out with my friends, some of whom i haven't seen in years. it was nice to be by the ocean again (altho my hair was freaking out from the humidity). the flight from LAX to SLO was actually kinda nice, flying along the coast. great views to be seen. the flight from SLO to SFO was just as beautiful. i really missed the ocean! avila beach (where the wedding was, and where i lived my super senior year in college) has had a complete makeover and is VERY different (in a very good way). i would love to go back and actually spend some time there. but i gotta say...i really am not looking forward to my next flying experience...which is just a short 3 weeks away!!! can't i just be teleported?!
