what an amazing ride...and now we're back home, ready to really be husband and wife!!
the wedding was the most incredible experience, with every emotion imaginable. it wasn't raining, but it was foggy at the winery, and it was soooooo cool. the vineyards and the chateau just looked very romantic in the fog, with the fireplace lit inside, and just the warmth felt in the entire second floor. the ceremony itself was so intimate, with all our family and friends surrounding us in the tight space by the fireplace. but it was just perfect. and then that moment, the first time i saw my groom, and he saw me...just amazing. it was like all the noise and everything was just silent, and all i could see was his smiling face at the end of the aisle. it was so surreal... and i did pretty good with the tears, that is til i had to start saying my vows! luckily his best man remembered tissue!! and then just as quickly as it had started, it had ended! and we were husband and wife!! we snuck away into the retreat where we had a moment alone to just absorb it.
then we took pictures with the families while everyone enjoyed wine and beer and appetizers. they set aside a plate of food for us, but we never even got to touch it! it looked great though! and then the dinner reception. the room looked amazing!! my florist rocks. our bouquets were gorgeous!! the bridesmaids had all white calla lillies and i had a mixture of deep red, orange, lavendar and white calla lillies, just as i had wanted! the centerpieces were these huge hurricanes with tall candles, surrounded by these really cool halos of orange berries and a few dark hydrangeas, and pomegranites and mini apples and persimmons overflowing the tables! they were sooo amazing, and everyone could not stop talking about how great they looked!! that's just what i wanted, not some overdone floral arrangement, but something different that everyone would talk about. just perfect. the food was very good, a lot better than anything i had expected. the whole entire night was just amazing, and i couldn't have asked for a more perfect evening. and my co-MC said it best when she stated that "though it's cold outside, it's very warm in here." and that's exactly how i felt.
we surprised our guests with a korean "p'ye baek" ceremony, with elaborate sets and costumes. everyone loved it and it was fun for us as well. i'm so glad we had the opportunity to show everyone that, even the korean guests loved it, cuz it's not something you see too often!
then, the dancing started, and my parent's friends all got up and rocked the dancefloor! even our DJ (a friend from college) commented on how he'd never seen so many of the elders dance so much at a wedding! and my dad continues to get compliments on what a great time their friends had. even a week later, they're still talking about it. it made me happy to see my dad so proud and happy! and then, before we knew it, the last dance, and the end of the evening. it flew by so fast, like a blink of an eye. we can't wait to see the pictures...i just love our photographer, i just know our pictures will be amazing.
then we were off to our honeymoon suite at the fairmont hotel in san jose. our suite was soooo amazing, a perfect way to conclude the wedding. the weirdest part was all night i kept having "flashes" of things and people i saw that night, like i was reliving the whole thing, but this time being able to see the details. it was so amazing. and W and i were up all night talking about that day, what we had each experienced and felt and saw and heard.
sunday morning we met up with W's mom to spend a little time with her (and check out her new 350Z!!) before heading home to pack for our honeymoon. we made it home in time to throw our things together and rush over to my parent's house for dinner before heading over to SFO to catch our flight to atlanta which would then take us to cancun!
cancun was soooo awesome, a perfect end to a chaotic few weeks. we stayed at the JW Marriott, which was an amazing hotel, and very affordable, especially now in the off-season. we ate soooo much food (it was sooo delicious!!) and i had the best mango margarita i've ever had (and actually finished it! ha!). the caribbean sea was soooo warm and clear and the sandy beaches were so clean and white. we relaxed mostly, but did go to xel-ha, a natural eco park, where we swam with dolphins (the highlight of the trip for me), snorkeled with a ton of fish, jumped off the "cliff of courage," floated down the lazy river, snorkeled some more, and swam into the ancient sacred caves (kinda freaky, but very cool). we also went to chichen-itza, the ancient mayan ruins about 100 miles outside cancun in the yucatan. it's an unofficial wonder of the world, and it's just amazing.
then it was back home...home, sweet home.
pictures from our honeymoon are on the right, enjoy. :)
